This is a website featuring a list of words that can be seen as underused. It's title is refined from time to time. Currently, it uses ASP.NET to build most of the page. I add a word, definition, and example, in one location. There are more bells and whistles to add, but the essentials are up and running. I have worked on parts of this website, starting in Fall of 2005, as a paid web developer. If you are considering doing business with me, please ask and I will tell you exactly what I can be credited with. In general, most of the design and automation were created by my coworkers. The website uses the Zope Content Management System to do much of the organization. The coding and scripting is done with Python Programming Language. By working on it, I’ve become exposed to plenty of features for automatically updating, using the school’s resource database, sending newsletters, and a new Intranet. The Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering is probably where you’ll find the largest concentration of my influence. This is from a class project. The assignment was to create a scientific visualization. I ended up doing what is basically a cross-section of the fictional Arrakian Sandworm from the series of novels started by Frank Herbert’s Dune. There’s nothing technically amazing about the image. It is a good example of raster imaging and design though. This is a straightforward illustration of a chariot and rider being propelled by two horses. It was all created digitally in Adobe Photoshop. The view is taken directly from the side. |
